Where Is The Creator (Administrator)?

First off, I'm not acquainted with Windows XP too well, since I've been used to using 98se for yonks, so forgive me if this question is simple :P

When first using this computer there was only one user (Administrator), and when logging on I was given the option to log in as Administrator or shut down. Had a few spyware issues which I think are fixed (but am not sure), but somewhere along the way I simply got a welcome screen and went straight into Windows as Administrator, or at least I assume so.

I created another account under my name with administrative power, but as soon as I did I no longer had the option of logging in as Administrator, and only had the option of logging in as my name. Because of this, some of my files that I installed under Administrator as well as most settings have now gone bye bye.

Any ideas why this is happening, and how to stop this from happening again?

When you create a user account, the admin account becomes only accessible through Safe Mode (security).

You'll probably need to reinstall the applications as your regular user, or simply create shortcuts to the .exe's from C:\Program Files

So how come when I install a program under my name (with administrator privileges), the program isn't available to any other user? Is there a way to enable programs for all users without installing repeatedly and bloating the hard drive?

On a sidenote, when switching users, is it possible to keep internet connections on, and how?

Some programs will offer the option to install for all users, and some will install to all users by default.

The programs are always there, and always available to all users, the only thing that's missing is the shortcuts.

The easiest way to remedy this, is to put the shortcuts to the programs in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

Then there will be desktop shortcuts to the applications on all user's desktops.

As for the internet connection, if it's a PPP connection (Dialup or DSL) probably not. As for DHCP (most Cable connections) then the connection is always-on by default.

It's easier to do it with TweakUI but I don't have that installed on this computer and cannot remeber exactly where the setting is :blush:
