flexelf Posted March 4, 2005 Report Share Posted March 4, 2005 I have a laptop computer which functions as the internet station, word processing and graphics, etc., and portable pro music studio. I have tried multiple accounts on a sinlge OS, but was only satisfied when i started moving into the multiple hardware profile zone. So then i just went ahead and partitioned the drive into four: 1 for main, admin, internet, whatever, 1 for workshop, 1 for music studio, 1 for file storage.Someone told me that better than installing several copies of a complete windows installation, i should 'deploy' windows over teh partitions (the difference between a mother who has three children, and a mother who adopts 3 children from 3 other mothers). Is there a way to make my single harddrive into a network?I ask this because i NEED to streamline each system to its particular function. The studio must have all available resources, which means no internet, no anti-virus with real-time protection, etc. Also, i guess i should keep the registry clean of any other files, since a crash on the job would be devastating.Thing is, since each of these installs were seperate and clear of each other, i was not really able to do much project work; i could record something on the studio OS, but then i would have to reboot and load the workshop OS to start working on it. Only one OS can have control of your PC at a time unless you're using some utility which allows you to run multiple OS's. Even if you could actually run multiple OS's at once, I still don't know how you'd differentiate among Network Cards.I'm trying to locate an application that allows you to run multiple OS's at once and switch among them. Is a seperate install on each partition required? Or can i simply make one master admin OS (with all programs installed) that sort of sends the parts of itself that are required to each other XP on the other systems?
