barton
I have screwed up my xp interface. The taskbar looks like win 2000 (grays) and everthing else looks just like xp-pro skin (blues, greens). I did this with the uxtheme hack. What dlls need replacing? I suspect.shell.dllshell32.dlluxtheme.dllAnything else? These would be accessible where? One the xp cd?

barton
I've have spent a signifcant time at neowin.net. I am trying to use the XP-Pro disc and am in the command line based recovery. Is there a command like "recover shell32.dll". I have browsed through the commands listed in the HELP section.

barton
This any help?http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=140707There are lots of Google references to uxtheme which may be useful in this.I already tried the uxtheme.dll patch. It did not fix anything. However the patching software made a backup to "uxtheme.backup". I booted into the recovery console and deleted "uxtheme.dll" form C:\windows and then renamed the backup from .backup to .dll. Unfortunately this solved nothing. What is the command in the recovery console to recover specific files?Put in your Windows disc, and go to start->runand type this:sfc /scannowto replace your system files.I inserted my xp pro disc and did that. It brought up a progess window and the caption read "Verifying that system files are intact..." once the scan completed to 100% it closed. It appeared nothing changed. When I know for a fact the the uxtheme.dll has been "illegally" modified. So I prayed that the reboot would have some affect. Nothing...Any other bright ideas??
