scuzzman Posted March 10, 2005 Report Share Posted March 10, 2005 A US federal security oversight committee unanimously approved China’s Lenovo Group’s plan to buy IBM’s Personal Computing Division.The Committee on Foreign Investments in the US completed its review of the proposed $1.75 billion sale, clearing the way for the deal to be completed. According to Stephen Ward, general manager of IBM’s personal systems group, the purchase, which will make Beijing-based Lenovo the world’s third-largest PC maker, is likely to be completed in the second quarter. Ward will become chief executive officer of Lenovo, which will be based in New York while Yuanqing Yang, vice chairman and CEO of Lenovo, will be chairman.Read more here.
