mindy1951
I recently cleaned out my Registry and got rid of alot of spyware/adware too. :D Ever since then my pc has had a partial nervous breakdown. I keep getting this message: WINNT Explorer EXE.....Access to this path...or files is denied. This means that I am unable to run any of my programs or open any personal files. Also, when I reboot...all it does is open and run itself in "safe" mode. Oh, I am running Windows 2000. Any programs that I have downloaded to help fix the problem, for example, HighjackThis; download just fine but when it comes time to to either run or open the program I am denied access. :wallbash: I would appreciate any suggestions as how I can fix this...been working on it for the last 3 days....with no success. I haven't become desparate yet but I'm getting there real fast. :throw: Thanks for letting me post. mindy1951
andsome
WELCOME to NP. How did you clean out the registry? Did you do a back up? If you used a registry cleaner which one? The one most frequently mentioned on here is RegScrub XP., but I don't know if it will run on your operating system. No one to my knowledge has ever reported any problems after using it. A very popular program which a lot of forum members use is Crap Cleaner. This clears out a lot of the dross and will also clear some obsolete registry entries. Have you tried running the system disc to see if missing files will reinstall? This is all that I can offer, the experts are mostly at work in the daytime, but will show up this evening. Cpt James T. Kirk
you might try running a chkdisk first then a scannow. the scannow will require your os disk as it checks against it and your install of os for any discrepancies and replaces missing files.
