(which is like a timeline of your life (similar but different to a resume).A resume cuts it up to education, experience, skills section, etc... a C.V. does a chronological account and goes in order from what you did after high school to the present day. Often its less flashy than a resume.Anyways, im looking for a place on the net that critiques resumes, cover letter s and/or C.V.'sFailing that, how bout a place were you can submit your resume (like a forum) were the public gives feedback on your style, word choice and ordering.Anyone know of anyone who likes to critique resumes.By the way, im still a student - so im looking for a freebie on this one. -pops- Posted March 20, 2005 Report Share Posted March 20, 2005 Having had to plough through many thousands of these cursed things during my working life, the most important thing is to keep it short and to the point. Always bear in mind the meaning of the "C" and "V" in CV, "curriculum" meaning education (in its broadest sense), "vitae" meaning, more or less, "vital". Think about the person that receives your CV - yours will probably be one of many. One position I was involved in assessing required me to look at more than 800 CVs. Some of these were written by people with severe word diarrhoea and went on for five or more pages.So:Don't pad out your masterpiece with loads of unnecessary information or detail. Place the most important information on the front page with the less relevant on the second. If you find you have to go to a third page, have a rethink of your whole project. There is little or no point in detailing your pre-school years or even your early school years. Likewise, no-one is interested in whether you had or have a part time job in a grocery store or bar, unless you are applying for a similar position.There are other points which I may add later - keep looking :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
