Chris
You're trying run a screen res. that the monitor does not support.Find out the supported screen res's. (y)
fishbox
Thanks powerless.I'm caught in a vicious circle! When I open Display and click on the Settings tab to alter the resolution the monitor goes into standby mode.
Scarecrow Man
Also make sure your monitor is recognized properly, instead of "Defalt Monitor" or "Plug and Play Monitor"
Sir Radfordin
Try going into windows in VGA mode - press F8 as your computer is booting up and you should get the option to do so. You should then be able to set your monitor to a lower resolution and refresh rate. Reboot and then go back into Windows and set the montior to the maximum supported. fishbox
Thanks Scarecrow Man and Sir Radfordin.I've tried to start Windows in Safe Mode -seems simple enough but won't work for me! Is using System Restore an option?I looked in Windows Help but was put off by the warning that it was best left to advanced users.
