benb
If this thread is a duplicate, I apologize, but the search function wouldn't let my type the small word "BHO"Anyways, I was doing a HijackThis scan to make sure there was no spyware I could see, and to just a do a little housekeeping. I noticed some (no name) *lots numbers* (no file) BHOs. On impulse I removed them, but of course I have backups. Was it a bad idea to remove these empty BHOs? Are they actually helpful? Also, I came across some Internet Explorer buttons that I really don't care about (there's a Research Button and a Windows Messenger button). Is it safe to check them in HJT and fix it through that? Thanks, bobp

Scarecrow Man
Short answer: Not without letting someone check your log.Longer answer: They could be bad, but a lot of the time they are not. (I think) Spybot S&D actually has an entry that appears (no name). Best to stay away from them.If you'd like you can check the list here and compare them with your HijackThis log. But again, dont remove anything without a professional
