Just finished our vacation plans for the summer. A week on Kelley's Island on Lake Erie from August 7-14th. :cheers2:

We will share a 3 bedroom lake front cottage with another family who will be bringing along their boat for water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. The house is situated on a large 10 acre lot with a fire pit and direct beach access.

The island shares a rich tradition of wine making due to the warm waters of the Lake leading into late fall. It is also located just minutes via boat from Put In Bay, another island rich in history.

This was a last minute plan for us. We plan to invite a lot of friends (the owner allows tent camping in the back yard), kick back and have a great time. I am sure we will enjoy a few bottles of the Island wine also. :P

We cannot wait. :D

We always used to fly off to somewhere in the Greek Islands, and have been to California several times. Over the years, 'Er indoors has got more and more scared of flying, and it worries me now that she could become really ill, so we stick to this country. We no longer feel the need for long holidays as being retired, we no longer need the recuperation, so tend to have short breaks. We usually go a couple of times to Country house hotels run by a company Called Warners. No children are allowed. the amenities are superb, with heated swim pools, sauna's Jacuzzis, etc. The food is superb and there is a first class show every evening. We also go away with friends to rented cottages. In May we are visiting Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in Anglesey, Wales, with another four couples. My sister is coming over from Australia with her husband in June, and we have booked a holiday in Scotland together.

Back to the point, though. I travelled a huge amount during my working life and, frankly, I've had enough. I hate airports (any and all of them), I find flying intensely boring and I don't appreciate beaches or very hot climates, especially if they're humid as well.

I do like food, though but, as things are advancing in this country, the number of ethnic eating places is increasing at a pace so I can get almost any cuisine I want without too much effort.

We almost invariably have people (friends and family) staying here and, if they aren't here, we are there, almost anywhere in the country.

The cottage will merely be a base for further exploration. I have no delusions of excitement about the village itself. I did once visit Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch on my journeys as a rep, to see if I could drum up any business. The cottage will however be a good base for exploration further afield, and the company will be good.

Been all over North America in my working career. I hate to travel also.

We will have to drive about an hour to get to the ferry, with the ferry trip then taking a half hour. Not bad at all for a vacation get away.

We love the water and the beach. :D

I don't like hot humid weather.
