US-CERT (United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team), apartnership between the Department of Homeland Security and the public andprivate sectors that impartially tracks all manner of security issues inoperating systems and major applications, shows that the list of IE'scurrent vulnerabilities is shorter than those for FireFox, Mozilla, andthe other alternate browsers. Likewise, it also lists fewer Windows'vulnerabilities than for the other OSes.The last time I mentioned a similar US-CERT finding, by the way, Linuxpartisans leapt up to tell me that US-CERT didn't know what it was doing.Linux *couldn't* have more security flaws than Windows! Guest be@vis Posted April 19, 2005 Report Share Posted April 19, 2005 You lose the option for automatic updates but you can still download them manually from Microsoft - besides most of the updates are for IE, OE and WMP - I don't have them so I don't need the updates.
