peter e
It's fifty years since Jim Watson and Francis Crick discovered the structure of the DNA molecule. These two scientists with Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin were to receive the Nobel Prize for their work. The discovery has been of incalcuable use in science and medicine and ranks as one of the greatest scientific discoveries ever. The story of the race to unravel the structure of DNA is exciting in itself. Great stuff!Anyway, I couldn't let the occasion pass without doing a post about it. And look what Google (bless 'em) have done to mark the occasion...
doug
Quite right. It was one of the notable seminal events in our understanding of science and the nature we inhabit. Newton was reported to have replied to a question as to how did he manage to have such great insight " I Stood On The Shoulders Of Giants".
