I didn't plan to do another patch before the next big release but I had to do it for two reasons:The first reason is MSN Messenger 6. Because of some things Microsoft did, Messenger Plus! can't work properly with this new version of MSN Messenger (will be released sometimes this summer). The 2.10.36 patch makes sure that Messenger Plus! does not cause any problem with MSN Messenger 6 (however, it's absolutely not compatible with it for now).The second reason is more personal. Messenger Plus! being my only source of revenue for quite some time now, I had to find a way to earn enough to live my life. Messenger Plus! now comes with a sponsor program. If you don't like this, you are free not to install the sponsor during Messenger Plus! setup.Thank you all for your support. The sponsor program will be in test for about 10 days. If it doesn't give good enough results, I'll remove it. I used it myself once, before I discovered Trillian. Similar to the many front end programs for Internet Explorer (Avant browser, MyIE2, etc), Messenger Plus adds a user interface to Microsoft's MSN Messenger that contains extra features. Patchou has brought in C2Media as a sponsor and is now bundling their lop.com software into Messenger Plus. For those of you who have never heard of it, lop.com software is classified as a trojan by antivirus vendors and as a browser hijacker by antispyware vendors. You can find plenty of information about it by doing a Google search for lop.com. Just be warned - some of the language used by lop victims will melt your monitor.No single parasite has caused as many support threads at our message boards as lop.com (although Xupiter comes close). Ad-aware, Spybot, and all other spyware removal programs target several older variants of lop.com. It now comes in a version that is nearly impossible to detect automatically. Hello! for once, I'm not releasing the new version after the promized date but BEFORE... I know I said friday but wednesday sounds more fun . So here it is, the public beta version of Messenger Plus! 2.20... it is entirely compatible with Messenger 6, it has new features, new fun stuff, and now, the only thing that is missing is your approval. This beta version needs you and your friends to test it in all the environements possible (Windows, Messenger, ...). The more you test, the better it is. Tankus Posted July 26, 2003 Report Share Posted July 26, 2003 I just saw an update tab for my messenger ,and Patchous crap and stupidly just hit the download ....................Its dumped a shed load of mal ware and spyware ,which Ive spent the last 1 hour trying to remove , one will not budge and its altered my browser , which will not shrink..............unless I remove it from the tools , but then my copernic search bar also dissapears.....(I use a lot)GGGGrrr...........this is the nastiest MS related download that Ive ever done....!I wish that I had read the earlier part of this post first........12.31 given up ....done a system restore to two days earlier.......
