This appears if I do more than one search. Isn't that a little extreme - to allow only one forum search every 30 seconds? What is the purpose - are forum admins afraid that we'd DoS the forum with more than one search? :ninja:

No, but multiply that by 200 people doing constant searches and look at the results.

Yes, this is a method to prevent DoS-type attacks.

I do not search the forum very often, but when I do, the first attempt does not usually return the results I'm looking for. It's about 2 or 3 refined searches that turn up results. Having to wait 30 seconds between is just annoying.

I seem to remember from the old WindowsForum that 3 searches were allowed until the flood control error came up. If we could raise it back to 3, I would have no objection.

The main point of my post: is it intentional (1 search / 30 seconds), or is it simply a setup error?

If it is intentional, how about giving subscribers a little less rigid restrictions in this area? :blush:

I find that a search frequently fails to come up with the goods.
