treskate
So I have Windows Home edition and wanted to upgrade to Pro and I have the disc so I installed an upgrade not the full thing. After everything was install and it reseted the 2th time it wouldn't start up anymore. I says "Windows Professinol" and its loading up, but then it says "Not enoiugh virtual memory...." (it says more but I can read it because it flashes so fast and then resets). Sfae mode does the smae, Yes I have tried safe mode and in that it does the exact smae thing. I can turn my PC and it will keep reseting itself all day. I really need help fast because this week is finals and I have work on my PC that needs to be printed.Any help please. Thanks. scuzzman
This problems sounds as though it could be memory/paging file related. It is very possible that during the installation something became corrupted -- this might be fixed through a repair installation. You also might try removing a RAM module and restarting, then try it again with each module to test the RAM in the machine. There isn't much more I can tell you without more information about the machine. treskate
Thanks and sorry for the typo's.How would I go about "removing a RAM module and restarting"? I have no idea. Oh and I have 512 RAM and 2.8 GHZ. If you need to know anything ask. Thanks again.
Scarecrow Man
Unplug the power cable, open the case and you will see RAM modules. Long sticks with IC's (Integrated Circuts). Try removing one, rebooting, and if it does the same, remove the other one and put the first one back in. (your system will not work with no RAM)
homecomputeraid
Be extremely careful to follow antistatic procedures with cards and memory. RAM can be fried by a static shock that you can't see, feel, or detect in any way. Have the unit powered off, but plugged in to provide a ground, and ground yourself to the case either with an antistatic wrist strap, or by touching the case. If you have an antistatic plastic bag (they're usually silver in color and PCI cards usually come in them), you can place them in that while testing. treskate
So I should really do this just because I upgraded? I don't see how that has anything to do with it, but then again I'm sure you guys know more than me when it comes to this.
scuzzman
There is a very good possibility of a bad RAM module (this is what it sounds like to me) probably caused by a power surge or something along those lines.I would strongly suggest doing this simple diagnostic step, and posting back if you don't find the problem. treskate
I happen to take a quick picture of the error message. It flashes so fast, but I got a picture of it."Not enough virtual memory or paging file quota is available to complete the specified operation". I'm going to google it right now, but if you know what this means then please help. Here is the picture: sorry its so blurry.
