Scarecrow Man
You can find your version by clicking Start > Run > winverAs for the printer problem, have you set it up as a network printer, or a local printer which is shared?
littleruss21
i am unable to get near to the computer so i am doin this blind
Scarecrow Man
That's fine... But... have you set it up as a network printer, or a local printer which is shared?A Network Printer is one which has it's own built-in NIC or sometimes an add-on which provides a NIC port. A Shared Printer is one connected via Paralell or USB to a computer, and then shared from that computer. So you are "unable to get near the computer" does this mean you are working remotely?First thing to check is make sure the printer is on the same network as the computer trying to print (domain or workgroup)
littleruss21
ok they are network printers and the server (running windows server 2003) has all the printers set up on it and then theyare shared from there

Scarecrow Man
If you can't use Windows Networking to set up a printer, you can add a local TCP/IP printer. ("Local" means the settings are specified locally, not that the printer is nearby.)Open the add printer wizard, and make select local printer. uncheck automatically search. Create a new port (printer port). It will be a "Standard TCP/IP Port".put in the IP address and the port of the printer, and click next.after set-up you will need the drivers installed on each computer to run the printer. littleruss21
all the printers are already set up its...the problem is when some clients print to a printer on the print server it takes a very long time...while others can print just fine
