Hi I recently formatted my pc cuz it froze all the time

now it's a week later and I was surfing and suddenly i got a lot of spyware so bad i couldn't do anything but reboot

and i unplugged my internet connection and ran ad-aware and norton antivirus

then my desktop had a wierd wallpaper saying my pc contained spyware

i couldn't get rid of it and so I reinstalled windows but then i couldn't change my wallpaper so I found a tutorial to help me that worked but I had to install windows again and now everything looks fine but I can't go to windows update page and I don't have the windows update icon in my control panel

So is there a way to fix this

I'm trying to download a version of windows SP2

THhnx

Do not install SP2. Installing SP2 on a computer with a virus will cause a disaster. You should post a HijackThis log before doing anything else.

This is very important - do not install SP2 unless you are 100% free of any malware.

As for WindowsUpdate, you can always activate it from Internet Explorer; Tools -> Windows Update.

I know you can acces the update from there but the problem was that the website allways freezes

I downlaoded a few anti spyware progies and they said I was clean so I downlaoded a standalone version of SP2 and installed it and I think my prob is over

But I'll post my Hijack log just to be sure :

One thing you could try,

open hijackthis, close all browser windows and delete the following line:

O16 - DPF: {6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) - http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/...b?1119796567702

then open internet explorer, and type: http://update.microsoft.com

P.S. Your log is fine.
