catgate Posted June 28, 2005 Report Share Posted June 28, 2005 This seems to be associated with my Acronis problem, listed under "Acronis Adventure", but then again it may not be, despite the fact that it only occurs when I am trying to install Acronis.At some point during the procedure I get a blue screen and a message telling me:- "A Fatal Exception has occured at 0028:CO2COFDD in VXD IOS (04)+ 00002031". This has occured once or twice right at the end of the installation and also on a couple of occassions just after file downloading has started. Just which driver is causing the problem is unclear to me and so I am unable to replace it. As far as the rest of the machine is concerned it is free of gobblethripes and rubbish to the best abilities of AVG, ZA, a2, Spybot etc as listed in "Acronis Adventure". Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I do do not have that prog. on my machine, nor do I have a vxd driver called cdraspi.vxd. (Although I did reinstall it once....then re-removed it, since when I have been unable to put it back again.)Having fun are we?No.In actual fact I am becoming more ragged round the edges as time goes on. I am beginning to question whether to dump Windows altogether and only use Linux. If it were not for the fact that my wife has started using this accursed machine much more since we got a couple of digital cameras (she only used to use OE before that), I would do so. One of the reasons why I feel I must have my back up "Off" the machine is because of the potential of her doing something "unfortunate". I am backing up to the Acronis Secure Zone (on a different drive) but keep getting a "disk full" error. When trying to expand the size, I get a "Already at Max Size" error... In view of the enthusiasm displayed on NP I was expecting something less troublesome. I have to go out shopping with managementthis morning (I ride shotgun and make all the small insignificant decisions) but when we return I intend trying to get through to Acronis site and see if I can obtain relief there. The answer is:- Yes it does need installing for it to work, unfortunately I have not yet installed it successfully. What was said in the post to which you are presumably refering wasbut we will have to see how it works out.and this was concerning the matter of my trying to get information out of Acronis when the full detail of the build number etc. could not be verified and transmitted to them, because, not having fully installed it, that information was unavailable to me. Acronis has been recommended to me by several people and I think they are quite reputable. I think they just had a problem with that one version.It seems like they really are trying to get things sorted.I hope so, as this is the backup program I planned on getting.
