Guest Shirley_Crabtree
As you all probably know Pete Townsend was let-off with a caution and a 5 year entry on the sex-offenders registry today for accessing a pay-for paedophile site....his defence was,he viewed the site for "research purposes"!!!I mean....come on....what sort of defence is that???Surely only a SICK PERVERT would wanna see such filth!!!By paying his fee he's encouraged even more monstrous atrocities to be comissioned for both financial gain and disgusting sexual gratification against young children....OUR CHILDREN!!.This countries justice system is a joke and it's about time we all stood up and said so.GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!Cheers.Shirl. peter e
Have to agree, Shirl. He had a very thin defence BUT, gets off with a smack on the wrist!I'm no techie, but I don't understand why these sites can't be closed down. May be someone could explain why it's not technically possible to do this.I get some awful filth in my hotmail everyday. But I can see what it is and delete it. However, some crafty subject lines seem to indicate the message is genuine - until you open them (as I have been fooled into doing occassionally). Now I delete everything except that which is from known senders. We'll be over run with filth merchants if we are not careful.Let's hope Blunkett gets his way on blanket sentences for perverts, murderers etc. The judges are squealing about his reforms but hopefully the overpaid useless idiots won't be able to block them. andsome
peter eI agree with everything said so far. Regarding filth e-mails, I get at least a dozen spam each day, most of which are offereing me viagra, or suggesting that their 'HOT GIRLS' are waiting for me to contact them. The easiest way to deal with this is with 'Spam Pal'. It can be downloaded. Any message which the program considers to be spam, has the word 'SPAM' inserted into the address, and is put into a special spam folder. You can open this folder, have a quick look down them, click COTROL/A and delete them all in one go. If a message is put into the folder in error from someone that you want to hear from, you can enter that account into a whitelist, and messages from that scource will be received OK in future. Any messages that get to your inbox from people you don't want to hear from, you can enter these senders into the blacklist to stop them in future. I had to do this odd tidying up for about a week, but now the program is perfect. Give it a try.
Guest moon
I'll give that a try, andsome. My 'blocked senders' list is approaching gargantuan proportions. :blink:EDIT; I had to laugh at the different sizes for the manuals. Says a lot, I reckon :) English (1.3Mb) German (2.6Mb) French (1.19Mb) Russian (762k)
Guest Nellie2
I am not defending anyone but Pete Townsend had at least five PC's taken away and examined and the police could find no evidence of anything being downloaded or stored on the system.Pete Townsend is/was known for his work on child abuse, he said he was doing research. I don't condone what he did, he broke the law...........but I don't think he is a paedophile
Guest moon
I think that it's a case of you either like ol' Pete or you don't. Unfortunately for him, he reminds me of my cousin Jeffrey :D

Tankus
Think the point was that the money he paid ,contributed to the perpetuation of this site which actively promotes the abuse of kids ...............Research or not , you become a party to it................Nasty....! Guest moon
Um ..........not too sure what to make of that last post ...moon....?Just being obtuse, Tankus. My cousin Jeffrey always tried to stuff 'The Who' down my throat when my head was into Solomon Burke and Dave Brubeck. Ain't it strange, the things you tell peeps online ? Not many people know that ! :D

In respect of Shirley's thread topic, some of my musical heros are in prison, some have been shot dead, one or two died in motel rooms under suspicious circumstances but NONE are on any sex offenders list ! :)

andsome
moonAs I have mentioned in another posting on this forum, I have the priviledge of knowing the Brubeck family. My daughter lived in California for several years, and my gorgeous Granddaughter Zoe, seven and half years old is half American. Whilst pregnant my daughter who lived in Santa Cruz, attended anti natal classes in San Jose California. She befriended Dave Brubecks daughter in law Nora, the wife of Danny Brubeck, one of the most brilliant drummers you could ever wish to meet. When we visited her a few years ago she took us to visit Danny and Nora in San Francisco. When Dave came to England on his 70th Birthday tour, we took Nora and her mother out for tea in London, and then attended the concert in The Barbican. This concert did not feature his group, instead, family members played all the old Brubeck numbers with The London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Russell Gloyd. We went back stage after the concert and were introduced to the family. They are all brilliant musicians. Since then my daughter has arranged a touring holiday in Ireland for Danny and Nora and their children when they came over on the QE2 playing with Danny's group for the entertainment of the passengers. We picked them all up from Leeds/Bradford Airport on their return. Some time after that we attended Daves 75th Birthday concert in The Barbican, again meeting all the family, who had again played with The London Symphony Orchestra. Since then we have attended Symphony Hall in Birmingham for a concert on Dave's 80th birthday tour with his group. He has EVERY intention of doing an 85th birthday tour to include England. They are truly a lovely family and we feel priviledged to have befriended them.
mmanya
seems there are a "different" set of laws for the famous ones at times ...plus lots of cash for lawyers !kind of : :offtopic: but, read this today :I don't get it. Why are they sending the WHO to all these Asian countries to help deal with the SARS epidemic? Do they know something about Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey that the rest of us don't know?*groan* ( bad one ... ! )
