dandy Posted August 18, 2005 Report Share Posted August 18, 2005 i have a toshiba satellite 1800 series for 4years now ! my disc drive does not work it keeps coming up with media drive not recognised, drive d may not be formatted.its running on a windows xp system, b4 i started encountering this problem i had tried fumbling with the registry files long time ago while experimenting on the performance of my system.please can anyone help me with this problemthanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Scarecrow Man Posted August 19, 2005 Report Share Posted August 19, 2005 BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY..Then navigate toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ Browse through the keys for "DVD\CD ROM Drives"Delete "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" and reboot.
