Varieties of Pentium 4

Not really been keeping up with Intel's processor family recently, but I've been asked to check out components for a system, specifically a Pentium 4 based system.

On visiting the processors section on eBuyer I am confronted with this vast array of choices:

  • Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478)
  • Intel Pentium 4 500 series (LGA 775)
  • Intel Pentium 4 600 series (LGA 775)
  • Intel Pentium 4 800 series (LGA 775)
  • Intel Pentium 4 Mobile

Obviously I know what the mobile one is for, but can someone tell me a bit more about the others?
