savak Posted October 11, 2005 Report Share Posted October 11, 2005 M Windows Xp Pro system is slow to launch programs. I have run Spybot, Adaware and Hijackthis which shows nothing unusual. -pops- Posted October 11, 2005 Report Share Posted October 11, 2005 Did you do a full reformat or just re-install Windows?Did this happen immediately following the reformat or has it developed over a period of days/weeks/months?Have you looked in the Event Viewer to see if there are any reports there?How much free space do you have on your hard drive?How many progams do you have running in the background (i.e. how many programs are in the startup process)? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted October 12, 2005 Report Share Posted October 12, 2005 How much free space do you have on your hard drive?Use Ccleaner to free up unnecessary clutter from your HD.How many progams do you have running in the background (i.e. how many programs are in the startup process)?Use Startup Inspector to check what programs are run at startup.Run defragmenter to make sure fragmentation is not a problem. trackrat Posted October 12, 2005 Report Share Posted October 12, 2005 If you click Start/Run/type msconfig in the box/click OK/click Start up and deselect the programs that yo do not need at start up/click Apply/click OK/ then reboot.
