expertec
Morning all,I'll be off out shortly, and I won't be back till this evening, so you have a whole day to puzzle over this :D Using the CD drive on a certain computer causes it to freeze. If you play a music CD in the drive, it will freeze up the whole computer and a reset is needed. Using a data CD appeared to be OK, but upon removing the disc, the computer became very jerky and unresponsive, freezing entirely for several seconds at a time.System spec is Sempron 2400, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, 128MB Graphics card. CD drive is an Optorite (I think) CD-RW, it is the only optical drive in the system. (Computer is wirelessly connected to the network). If you can think of any reasons why it's doing this, let me know! Thanks. :)

dadyassa
If the PC is alright when not using the cd drive, then its the drive having problems reading, see if there are new drivers on the makers site or treat yerself to a new one :)
Scarecrow Man
If there is no spyware or viri infecting the computer, I might suggest buying a new drive? With the price of CD drives now, they are not worth repairing.
