prctr
I recently lost the sound on my PC. Have checked BIOS and settings in Control Panel. Device manager claims that the onboard sound is OK, in fact, no devices show up as questionable or needing driver reinstallation. :censored: I got frustrated and installed a sound card on a PCI slot, configured it as directed - STILL no sound.Yes, I have speakers attached, and have tried substitute speakers.I am dumbfounded, or perhaps, as my spouse often points out, I was just 'found dumb. ' In any event, I would appreciate a bit of feedback. Many thanks! :flowers:
rong
I lost my sound a couple of months ago, and I believe it was a driver update from windows. I rolled back to before the update and all was well.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Do you have a hardware volume controller that could be turned down? A friend of mine had exactly that problem recently.
prctr
Thanks much, for the responses. I have checked the volume, but I'll betcha the cuprit IS the driver. But what's weird to me is that I put in that sound card, installed in correctly (or so I think) and didn't get sound. I'll start with the onboard drivers.....................again, thank you ! -pops-
I believe that if you have on-board sound and then install a separate sound card, you are required to turn off the on-board in the BIOS before the card will work. So, even if you installed the card because the on-board had failed, it still may be influencing the sound system.
