South Korea Fines Microsoft $32 Million

GWACHEON, South Korea (AP) -- South Korean antitrust regulators Wednesday ruled that Microsoft Corp. abused its market dominance, fined it 33 billion won ($32 million) and ordered the software giant to offer alternative versions of Windows.

A Microsoft spokesman said the company would appeal the decision in court.

Aparently the fuss is over integrating Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer into retail versions of Windows. Microsoft has been given 180 days to ship a version of windows without the said products.

Microsoft to Invest $1.7 billion in India

Bill Gates, Chairman of Microsoft Corp, the world's largest software company, said that the company will invest $1.7 billion in India over the next four years to expand its operations.

The amount is to be deployed across select focus areas in line with Microsoft's strategic vision for India, he said on Wednesday at a press conference in New Delhi.

The fund would also be spent in making India a major hub of Microsoft's research, product and application development, services and technical support for both global and domestic companies.

Earlier in the day, Gates said that the software giant will hire more than 3,000 employees over a period of three to four years in India.

Looks like our goal of ₤100 each is a little more plausible andsome!

$32 million is small change to Microsoft and won't make any difference to how it manages it's business.
