ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted December 25, 2005 Report Share Posted December 25, 2005 I have been wondering about this for years...Sometimes Windows is not properly shut down, e.g. when it crashes, power failure, etc. Many times I see that some apps that were running at the time of the crash launch automatically when Windows comes back.Any ideas why this is happening? Scarecrow Man Posted December 26, 2005 Report Share Posted December 26, 2005 Likely a system dump from the RAM to a temp location on the hard drive.If Windows has a BSOD, it takes a quick snapshot of the system state, and dumps it somewhere. Where, how or why... I do not know.I noticed that after a crash, My Documents would open. I expect this is because explorer is starting twice, or tries to start twice anyways. It dumps the current state of the machine to the HDD and when you restart returns it to that state. This is done for debugging purposes.
