Only a disk "clone" will be an exact copy of your drive.With an image, you are given the option of adjusting the compression rate before making it. I always choose normal (or words to that effect).Disk cloning is for making an exact copy of your drive contents if, for instance, the original is showning signs of popping its clogs. If there is a need to apply an image backup, will the incrementals be automatically included in the image backup, or do they have to be selected separately, and if so do you select them all at once with the original mirror or one at a time afterwards? -pops- Posted January 8, 2006 Report Share Posted January 8, 2006 Let's say you make a backup in wk 1 - a full backup of the system. Wk 2 you make an incremental. Wk 3 you make another incremental and so on until, say wk 10. Wk 10 and a half you have a disaster so you set Acronis going from the boot disk you made for Acronis and you will have the choice of any of the backups you have done -> wk1, wk 2 - - - - - wk10. You only need to restore from one of these. Acronis will sort out what should be retrieved from each and every image it has up until the date of the selected one.If you find that your wk 10 backup contains a virus or something like that - which could have been the cause of your disaster - restore from wk9 i.e. before the time the virus was present.If you're using the Acronis Secure Zone then every once in a while (I do it every two months or so) make a fresh full backup and start incrementals from that. By doing that you will always have space on your drive because, as it becomes full, Acronis will automatically delete the oldest backup and its incrementals to make room for the fresh one.
