Then, i have decided to install hide folders xp so as to protect files, i used a registered version, so it worked perfectly, asking for a password each time to need to access, locking and/or hidding folders...but, suddenly, one day I realized I could access this folder even being added to the soft hide folders, however each time i try to gain access to the files of this folder, it is denied, and in .txt files the message "access denied" is displayed, whereas in .doc files the error message is "word cannot open file because the user has no privilege access", thats shocking!, because i am the administer, the only one with total privileges in the computer. Right clicking the mouse is not a solution, because the menu does not display the security options appearing in this page: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421. When i try to decrypt the files another error message displays that it cannot apply attributes ¿? Even uninstalling hide folders happens the same.I would be very grateful if someone can help me in any way because those files are very important to my work. If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account that has Administrative rights to have access to the Security tab.Did you start in Safe Mode? Because in security options, I have added "all" to gain "total control" of the files, so how can I decode the files if each time i try it, xp says me windows cannot apply the attributes?totally puzzled... Have you logged in as Administrator in safe mode, and set the Administrator to have full control, then restart into regular mode and try accessing the files?After asking a friend of mine, I realized the problem was the following: I have two hard disks, each one with a partition in NTFS, I formatted the main one ( C ), but in the other (D) I had these files encripted before. Once I installed the new OS, then I could not access the files, since they were encrypted with another user. So our conclusion: these files are almost imposible to recover unless you contact MS...
