Rebel=UK=
For the last couple of week i cant use the TV guide it just says "Waiting for listings" ive left it on for ages (20mins) and it stays saying that. The normal TV banner works on all channels and i can move it along to see whats on later, also sometimes Sky Movies 9 requires me to enter a pin.....i dont even know the pin. Ive looked on the system setup and the signal strength is good.
dadyassa
When I had it and it got a bit stroppy, i used to unplug it for a few mins and it resets itself. ;)
Thos
Your pin is the last four letters of the number on the back of the viewing card and like dadyassa I unplug, lightly wipe the card with a soft cloth, re-insert it, plug in again and usually all is well.Thos. Thos
ive tried that but it just doesnt work, also i shouldnt have to enter my pin on Sky Movies 9 anyhow should i?I don't know. I don't subscribe to the movies package, just the Sports. If the "unplug" routine doesn't work it looks like a call to the help line. Nowadays I have found them particularly helpful.... a few years ago they were atrocious. They seem to have got their act together.Good luck, Thos. andsome
Put the box into stand by mode with the red light on. Turn the TV off. Unplug the box for a couple of minutes, then plug it in again. Levae it for about thirty seconds then switch the TV back on. There will be a message on the screen that it is searching. Just wait and it will reboot itself. NO PROBLEM

CurlyWhirly
I no longer have Sky as I've now got Freeview instead. However this thread is interesting as I had Sky Digital for around 6 years and I never had a problem with it.I used to get the same problem occasionally happening to me and doing what Andsome suggests worked every time for me.I would ring up Sky customer services and ask for advice on what to do next as whenever I rang them up, I always found that they were very courteous to me. CurlyWhirly
I can't remember it now but I used to know a certain remote control key combination that took you to the Engineers menu and offered you a few options for resetting the digibox if switching it off at the mains didn't work.p.s. I found this out by ringing customer services and it resolved a problem I had (not related to this particular problem).

While on the Sky Digital channel, press [services] on the remote2. Then select system setup and press [enter]3. Now on the remote press [0] [1] and then [enter]4. You will now be presented with a hidden menu that is used by engineers to set up your system. An interesting feature if "new installation" which enables you to reset the system if you are experiencing faults without having to pay someone to come out and repair it! Do use caution though on some other features as it was hidden for a reason.
djohn
Some programs requiring a PIN number are starting to appear. If its not the same as the last four digits of your card, give them a phone call and they will issue your PIN over the phone. Its something to do with the new parental guides, at least that is what they told me when I phoned them, but I told them I'm the one who decides what programs I want to watch and I don't want them [sky] deciding for me.Still have to input the PIN every now and then, even on Discovery channel one night. I have a feeling Sky are up to something like checking on which programs we are watching and for how long.

andsome
I phoned Sky a few weeks ago to ask why I was asked to enter a pin number on Turner Classic Movies one night. I was told that it was because the film that I wanted to watch was on before the watershead, and was not suitable for under 18 year olds. andsome
Ive just noticed today that loads of channels have been moved, so im having to remember all the new numbers :angry:Notification of this was sent to everyone. Put your favourite channels into the favourites list, no need to remember them, then just scroll through the favourites using the blue button.
