micar98
About a month ago my outlook express compressed the messages. Since that day i can see no previous incoming mail but just the new ones and also when i send a message it does not keep it anymore in the outbox folder! The dbx files get larger day by day but i can not see my messages(old incoming, new outgoing). Can anybody help?? :(
-pops-
In answer to part of your problem, I think that sent messages are placed in the Sent Items folder. The Outbox is for messages waiting to be sent. Have a look in that box/file.I recall Windows wanting to compress all sorts of files for me but I found, like you, that this made them inaccessible so that now, if Windows offers to do this, I refuse. I don't know what you can do to retrieve them.
Scarecrow Man
If you have used Outlook Express' Compact Folder option, you should have been asked for a location to save the compacted files. What you will need to do is, find those compacted files (dbx files) and move them back to Outlook Express' store folder. You can find the store folder by going to;Tools > Options > Maintainence > and clicking the "Store Folder" button. Copy the entire line, and paste it into the Run box. This will show your current folders. You will need to move your old folders here, or change the location of your "Store Folder" to the location of your compacted DBX files.
