bob11 Posted February 17, 2006 Report Share Posted February 17, 2006 hi i stupidly installed windows vista beta on my laptop, now everything is running very slow because no graphics driver is available for my graphics card at the moment. I am having trouble uninstalling vista and re-installing windows xp. My xp disc starts the utility but the install option isnt available (i think this is because you can down-grade windows?) and I am unable to boot from the disc and install it that way..im not sure why this is. djohn Posted February 18, 2006 Report Share Posted February 18, 2006 Hello bob11, Not sure on this one as I'm a little confused as to why your graphic card is not working properly. Installing Vista should not affect your card as far as I know and I can't answer why it wont pick up the XP disk from your optical drive when you have it set to first boot.Best to wait until later on today when some of our more experienced members are on-line and they will soon sort your problem for you. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

-pops- Posted February 18, 2006 Report Share Posted February 18, 2006 Is your version of Vista an official Microsoft issue or one of doubtful origin that you "happened to pick up"?I've not beta tested Vista but I have beta tested several other Windows versions and, like bob11 says, there was always an option to easily return to the original version of Windows in case of any problems which are quite likely to be revealed. After all, the whole point of beta testing is to discover potential problems before inflicting the software to the public in general so it is vital that an easy way of getting out of difficulties is offered.I remember when I was testing what became Windows XP I must have installed/uninstalled it about fifty or more times. If you can't take Vista off, and you have no other choice than to reformat, and it just skips the XP disc, this may be because the XP disc is not bootable, which many aren't. Try getting a Win98 boot up disc. I don't think i've been able to create one while running XP, as it never seems to work the same, but try and get one off the internet. What is Vista by the way?
