Cross-Platform printer sharing

I've got a network of computers running Mac OSX, and one kid who wanted to keep his PC. i've got my printer hooked up to my mac, but i can't figure out how to find it on the windows machine. on all the macs, it just automatically shows up, but it doesn't on the windows. i tried finding it, but it didn't like my IP address. then, just to experiment, i tried mapping a drive to my mac (i'm new to cross-platform issues, so this is my childish messing-around phase) and, of course, it returned an error. i can't find any trace of the macs on the windows computer. does this mean that it's simply not possible to share the printer between platforms?

thanks,

kael

I do not know if you can buy these in the states but I use a 4 port USB 2 switching hub to run my printer between windows & Linux.

With this you just press a switch to change between computers, no messing with IP addresses or trying to map drives.

Also if you use pen drives to shift information you just plug it in and use the switch for the computer you want.

hm. thanks for the advice, but, being a household of college kids, it's not really worth getting all the extra supplies to let the one kid gain access. besides, he can always just email any file he needs to himself and print it from another computer. i was just wondering if there was something built into windows that would allow such a share. guess not. thanks again though!
