IS this good?

Recommended Posts

I went and tested my firewalll and got this...

Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!

One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.

Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.

All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.

The second one is the one that scares me...Is that good?

I have also had problems uninstalling Zone Alarm. There are manual uninstall instructions on their support site.

If you cannot remove something from your computer, you should contact the developer to see if this is a know issue or not. If it is, they can provide you with instructions to remove it. If not, they should be able to provide some help. And in the event they can do nothing, you can always post here for help. :)

Most softwares should uninstall either through the Control Panel, or through the Uninstall link on the Programs menu. You should shutdown the software before attempting to uninstall. If this fails, try to uninstall in Safe Mode.

If you really want to reinstall Windows, have a look here: http://www.windowsreinstall.com/.

No, a firewall is not the only way. But it is the most effective and quickest way of doing it. Whether it be hardware or software, a firewall is your first line of defense.

Some of the better ones allow you to customize which ports are open, and which are not.

If you have a firewall, even if using the default configuration, you are 65,000x more protected than someone without one. (I say that because there are over 65,000 ports on a Windows based machine.)

Yeah, I love Zonealarm. I have also bought Zonealarm Pro because I find it is the best.

Anything Norton or Symantec turns me off so both their firewalls are useless. And Sygate is now owned by Symantec so it is now useless (to me, I know other people like these programs).

The Kerio GUI (the program chooser thing) crashed on me whenever I tried to use it, so Zonealarm is pretty much the only program I can use. I find it to be the best program anyways.
