Start-up probs

Recommended Posts

Still trying to eliminate my start-up problems. Have removed some malware, thanks Nel, and just did a retry. Booted up from cold, went through the Windows splash screen but when I click on my icon for user logon (happens with all 3 users) the icon moves up to the centre of the screen then the screen goes black and nothing happens except the fans are still running. I'm attaching the only error message from the event log. This is the error message I get after each crash. Hope no one tells me it's because I did a hard switch off in which case I'm not sure how to investigate further. Been to M$ link in the message and don't know how to go any further. suggestions, please. I do have a lump hammer in the garage!

Well, have just moved the memory card to the other slot and got the same problem. I'll look for updates tomorrow. especially as I got the new monitor for Xmas and the new card - and it's driver card - after that. I have checked M$ for updates without finding any. Interesting that you imply that it could be hardware.

No it was binned. I had the problem before.Wellthe old card well before it turned it's toes up, but I lived with it. Mind the problem is now very frequent. I was really hoping this was a software prob and even prepared to do a re-install. Being pensioned I can find time but not spondulas.
