andybear
I have been trying for sometime to fix "hangs" at shutdown. I tried to call the manufacuter (HP) and all they wanted to do was sell me Norton and a spyware even though I already had these items. HP online chat had me do several things - adding a new string and a patch. None of these worked. I have defraged, checked disk and cleaned disk. I have the latest updates and am running SP2. Does anyone know how to fix this issue - the computer goes through all the stages of shutting down it just hangs at "windows in shutting down". I also cannot "restart"

andsome
If it's a new machine, send it back and tell them to sort it out. You should not have to work on it yourself.
