Invisible§niper Posted March 25, 2006 Report Share Posted March 25, 2006 Hi again everyone been away for a while but I'm back for more, I can't get enough of this forum :).Ok anyway my question is when you are using public Internet access, why is it considered a security precaution to log out of a webmail site or Internet banking site once you have logged in? Belatucadrus Posted March 25, 2006 Report Share Posted March 25, 2006 Because just shutting down the browser doesn't necessarily close access to your account. If not logged out the accounts will usually close after a set period of inactivity set by the site in question, but that would leave a window of opportunity for the next person on the PC to go straight into your account. If you're in the habit of accessing bank details by somebody else's PC, always log out and either run something like IE-Privacy-Keeper/takealong. or clear history, cache & passwords from the browser.
