I have the trial version. I have uninstalled it for now, and reinstalled Spybot S & D. Spybot, A Squared and Nod 32 all scan with no bother at all. dagwoood Posted March 31, 2006 Report Share Posted March 31, 2006 I've just downloaded it to give it a try(didn't realise it was freeware )and it's crashed my system as well andsome. I tuned off AtiTool and it runs fine now(the scanner got to the ATITool.exe when it crashed). It's most probably an issue about a running process/program that causes the crash. I had already uninstalled the program, so I ran Search/Ewido and deleted all left over files. Then ran RegScrub XP and Crap Cleaner. A fresh download and install has run perfectly. I had taken Adaware and Spybot off when I found that Ewido seemed to be a good program This meant that I had Spyware guard, Ewido, and A Squared, no more than most on this forum. If Ewido carries on behaving itself I will again remove Spybot and Adaware. The general consensus among the experts on the forum as I have always understood it, is that no one program finds everything. I have frequently run a scan with one program finding nothing, followed up by another program immediately finding Malware. Better safe than sorry. I ran AdAware - it too found two different bits of malware which were removed. I then ran A squared and that found nine malware items - again different to the ones found by the other programs. Finally I ran Spydefense and that, too, found more malware. All of these were low risk but they were there just the same. Paranoid? Moi?I'm mystified where these things come from. I don't visit dodgy sites, I don't open, or even download, dodgy emails and there's only me uses this machine, mainly for business and visiting here. The other place always attempts to download third party cookies onto your computer. I took it up with them, and they said it was not harmful. Evidently your privacy doesn't matter. Even on this forum, when some people post and I read that post, there is an attempt to download third party cookies.
