USB connector

Recommended Posts

Have just received an All-in-1 Card Reader/Writer - internal to be fitted into a spare 5½ bay. My M/B is a K7S5A and has a spare USB header but it only supports USB1. I have a PCI USB2 card with a spare internal USB socket. Now the problem is the reader connector cable is fitted with a header plug. Is it possible to obtain a converter for it to plug into the USB socket? The reason I've gone this rout instead of a desktop reader is to avoid desktop clutter and the present USB ports are at the back of the tower unit which sits on the floor under my desk. This reader has a USB socket on the front for access.

Wnet to Maplins and well and truly knackered the reader. No fault of Maplins. the wiring to the headers were different so the reader wont even work when connected to the USB 1 header on the M/B. Back to square minus 1!

Yes, given the clutter on my desk a little more wont make it much worse. Mind just spoke to son-in-law who said he's going to pop in to PCWorld, near him, as they now have internal readers in stock and ask them. The one he gave me for my birthday was from the Internet and there's no way of asking the necessary questions.
