granma Posted April 10, 2006 Report Share Posted April 10, 2006 I'd been trying to get rid of adware for an year with no results. Then Nortons came up for renewal. Lo and Behold, suddenly Nortons got rid of my adware! I didn't renew, so I'm betting the adware comes back. Too coincidental if you ask me. -pops- Posted April 10, 2006 Report Share Posted April 10, 2006 I am known on here for not allowing anything with the Norton or Symantec name anywhere near my computers - a number of others think likewise, even some previously avid Norton fans.There are plenty of highly effective FREE security and anti-malware programs available and my suggestion would be for you to look at the appropriate sections of this forum to see what people recommend - advice from actual users rather than advertisers with a vested interest.If you do decide that you don't want Norton any more, make sure you remove it by the correct method. This link gives the removal tool for 2004/05/06 versions of Norton. If you want removal tools for other versions, come back and we can find them for you. granma Posted April 11, 2006 Author Report Share Posted April 11, 2006 Spybot and adaware would show that they eliminated all sorts of stuff, but the adaware would be back in minutes....this went on for months before Nortons suddenly decided to clean my computer a few days before renewal time!
