Password protecting printer

Does anyone know of a way to password protect a printer?

The conditions are that my fiancee has a sister that shares her PC due to the fact it is the only one in the house connected to the net. It is dialup. While she uses her PC she prints various projects and such and my fiancee wanted to protect her printer from being used because she is tired of always having to go 100% of the cost all the time on the ink.

I did think that the easy way would be just to remove the ink everyday. But it would be nice if there was a way to password protect it though.

I can only agree with that. Why does she let her sister rule the roost? Plus the fact that it is asking for trouble to remove the cartridges before they need replacing.

If the quiet word fails I have written a couple of VBS files. Just save them both and double click them when needed. One (stop_sist_printing) will prevent the sister from printing from the net. I have created the file in such a way that it should prevent all printing (this isn’t guaranteed though) It will definitely prevent prints from the Internet if she is using IE. When you double click the file I have added a popup to confirm it has worked. If you a see Sister can no longer print pop up box you are sorted.

The other let_sis_print, will allow all print work and when clicked you will receive a pop up box confirming this saying sister can now print. Hide them from her in a zip folder and password protect it.

You don’t have to restart each time.
