jason.b.c Posted April 30, 2006 Report Share Posted April 30, 2006 :D Here's what i want..I would like to set up a small command or even possibly download a program that could turn off my monitor at a preset time..Here's what i was thinking:>With my screensaver set to five minutes ( scrnsave.exe ) wich can turn on at anytime ( thats normal ) i would like to set my monitor's power saving mode to come on after midnight and turn the monitor back on at around 10:00 or 11:00 o'clock the next morning..Example:> "Scrnsave.exe" activates after five minutes of inactivity. With the screensaver running the small program will track what time of day it is, then after midnight IF there is "NO" activity within thirty minutes ( After midnight ) the monitor will go into power saving mode turning itself off. The next morning at a preset time in the program will turn the monitor back on and the monitor will resume normal operations for the day.. Question:> What is the executable ( .exe ) that turns off the monitor in the ( display properties / screensaver / power ) part of windows???? -pops- Posted May 1, 2006 Report Share Posted May 1, 2006 What I mean is that if your programming is not exactly right, it might turn your monitor off but then you or anything else may be unable to turn the monitor on again. It is especially difficult for monitor controllers because, if it does go wrong, you are not able to see on the monitor how to correct the fault as your has switched switched it off.So, they will not cause physical damage per se but it might result in a non-functioning machine.
