moejoe Posted May 6, 2006 Report Share Posted May 6, 2006 Whats up you guys, this is my first posting on what i have to say is the most professional looking xp forum i've found so far.A power failure the other day made my pc unbootable and i had to reinstall windows, i did so without formatting my hard drive in hope that i might retain my documents and fingers crossed, that worked, sort of. The problem is both me and my brother had checked the 'make this folder private' box for our document folders making them inaccessable, except from within our respective accounts. I know my password but can't access my documents folder (the odl one that is which hasnt been wiped out). -pops- Posted May 6, 2006 Report Share Posted May 6, 2006 Hello and welcome to WF.I can't help you in any positive way but, there are some very clever people here and if it can be done, I'm sure one of our members will know how.One thing I could say, though, is when you get going again, make sure you have backups of your system so that if the worst happens a second time, you will not be in the same predicament as now. Even if you don't make a full backup (which I highly recommend you do) at least make copies of everything of any value (financial or sentimental) that you have on your machine.Some time ago, I lost everything and was unable to boot into Windows following a power failure. Maaaahtin Posted November 9, 2006 Report Share Posted November 9, 2006 I have a very similar problem with my computer. Our old PC went bang, so I'm taking all the documents off the hard drive.
