Craig
As you may be / may not be aware I have installed a wireless network using a netgear wireless router / access point and two netgear wireless PC adapters. This is all used to connect my computer and a computer used in my dad’s office. At the moment all is working fine except one little problem.I can share my internet connection with both computers, but I cannot share files or printers. When I double click 'My Network' on my PC it shows all the files / folders / drives that I have setup for shared access and no more. On the office PC (which has the exact same settings) it doesn’t show any shared files / folders / drives. This is where I think the problem lies. Now what I can’t understand is that all settings on both computers are the same, I know this because I set them up. Although a slightly different hardware spec, both use Windows XP and the same wireless setup. Can anyone advise me what I may have done wrong, or some areas to check my settings? Thanks,Craig. mark2
Found thisyou need to give each PC its own static IP address, such as 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2.also someone else foundgetting a similar problem. It was due to the subnet mask being set to 255.255.255.255. This is what the DHCP server was assigning. Reset it up with a static IP address & everything was OK after that. mark2
Are they on the same workgroup ? do they have different names ?
Craig
They are both in the same work group.I still think something is wrong on my dads computer. When i double click 'My Nework' on my computer, it shows all the files and folder that are available to the network that i have enabled for file sharing on my PC. However clicking 'My Network' on my dads PC doesnt show the files that have been enabled for file sharing on his PC  I think if i can resolve the problem on my dads computer, they will then see each others files. Sir Radfordin
Have you got ZoneAlarm installed? If so uninstall it and see if it makes a difference. Spent 2 hours last night trying to get two XP Pro machines talking, and eventually realised that even though ZA wasn't running it was still stopping some network actions. Was v. annyoed :(
