custom20 Posted May 17, 2006 Report Share Posted May 17, 2006 i got the dreaded blue screen and the system keeps rebooting without going into windows,stop c0000218 so i went to repair console and repaired the system32\config\software file and now i can get back into windows but since it is a fairly new system i dont have a restore point is there any way to fix or repair the original software hive Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
andsome Posted May 17, 2006 Report Share Posted May 17, 2006 I am puzzled as to why there is no restore point. Restore points are automatically made quite frequently. You say that the system is fairly new, how new do you mean? Mine never goes more than a couple of days at the most without creating a restore point. -pops- Posted May 17, 2006 Report Share Posted May 17, 2006 Is this a bought system with OEM Windows (or recovery disk)?If it is, the only way to recover from a corrupt registry is to re-install the operating system.Look at this for some methods of recovery if your system is not OEM.
