AlanHo Posted May 27, 2006 Report Share Posted May 27, 2006 From time to time some of the icons on my desktop suddenly change without any provocation on my part.For example, this morning the icon for "Windows Forum" had changed from my bespoke one to a plain folder icon and the icon for "View New Posts" had changed to an icon of a tree. It isn't a serious problem - but why does it happen. It has never happened to the standard windows icons such as the recycle bin or program items like Word or Excel - being confined to ones I have added myself to URL's etc.It appears that my computer has a phantom icon stealer who creeps around in the night and wreaks mischief whilst my computer is switched off.
