-pops- Posted May 27, 2006 Report Share Posted May 27, 2006 No, you can go ahead with a fresh install but during the installation it will ask you for the qualifying disk (your W98 disk) to be put in the machine to prove that you do actually qualify to use the upgrade version of XP. andsome Posted May 27, 2006 Report Share Posted May 27, 2006 Many more problems seem to occur with upgrades on old W98 machines than occur on new machines built for XP. For this reason I won't even consider Vista when it is available as an upgrade from XP. I will wait until such time as I may need a new computer.
