Boris
I've just been asked if you can use the Acronis Disk Clone function to clone a failing 80 Gig IDE H/D to a new 250 Gig SATA H/D.I've done several IDE clones but never done an IDE -> SATA clone, but presumably there will be no problems as his motherboard supports SATA ???Any comments/practical advice gratefully receivedThanks
-pops-
I've done IDE to external USB hard drive (in fact a disguised IDE but had to go through the USB conversion). That worked OK but not had any experience of IDE to SATA but, no harm in trying it out.
trackrat
Have a read of this, about half way down.http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/company/...-trueimage.html
Boris
Thanks trackrat,It looks like the key things are -1. The SATA controller is either Silicon Image or VIA) and not Promise. as the Promise controller (being strictly speaking, a RAID controller) will not be detected automatically by True Image.2. Make sure you enable the SATA controller in the BIOS and load the drivers into Windows before cloning.I'll try and find out what controller he has, and (hopefully) if he has the SATA drivers for it.That article is 15 months old so I presume it was referring to a later build of TI V8 ? I think my friend is going to be using the latest TI V9.0.0.3633 Home - wonder if its any different now ?This thread seems to be useful as well !http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=132739This post in particular !http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.ph...43&postcount=
