trackrat
This is taken off another forum and has worked for some people.woke up turned on the ol computer and to my horror, my cdrw and dvdrw WERE GONE ! "Hello Houston, we have a problem..." well i did the registry fix noted above, then rebooted...nothing , they still gone. so then i uninstalled them from the device mgr>>rebooted...still gone so then i physically disconnected the power cables and the ide cables >>rebooted, then shutdown, then re-connected the cables and booted up again, voila ! they came back.
