Last December we were burgled whilst away for the weekend, the house was ransacked.

Amongst other things most of my wifes` jewelery was stolen. During February she visited a goldsmiths, as instructed by the Insurance Company, to discuss replacement items of jewelery and a comprehensive list of stolen items was forwarded to the Loss Adjusters.

Over the following 4 months we heard nothing despite countless phone calls and emails. Our phone calls were answered with "we'll chase it up" etc and emails remained unanswered.

Last Sunday week I used http://www.howtocomplain.com/

Since last Tuesday week we've had phone calls, emails and letters every working day! The replacement jewelery has been authorised and also a cash value agreed for the irreplaceable items.

The end is in sight, thanks to How to Complain.com.

Talking of being burgled, We've been done a few times. The most embarrasing was the second time when we were away for the week end on a jolly with the local crime squad, wife's connection. Took quite some time for us to be tracked down to the hotel where we were all staying. Most embarrasing to the Durham boys as they were trying to be traced by the Tyne and Wear Mob. The family knew we were away for a weekend with the Durham squad but no one in the Durham Constabulary knew where they were. Trouble is we don't have that much. It just looks good from the outside. Must be all that DIY I do. Must finish putting the gold paint on the forth lot of gates. To cap This particular burglary they came back 2 weeks later, we found their tracks in the snow going round the house. They kicked in the bottom panel of a rear door and nicked the replacement video for the first one. Obviously a newer model. :o

In the post this morning a voucher for over £2500 from Goldsmiths Jewellers, this voucher can be redeemed at any Goldsmiths Group store in the UK.

6 months of getting nowhere with our claim ended after one email from How to Complain.com less than 2 weeks ago.

Amazing.

Some good news for you at last bvw. Sorry to hear about the burglary (that goes to all mentioned), but I would suggest that you invest in a couple of Great Danes.

I've had Danes for the last 20 odd years, and touch wood, we've never been burgled, despite most of the neighbours being done.

Mr. M.
