cozofdeath
I hope this is the best place to post this? Anyway here goes...when I first got this computer I tried to make backups of some of my movies, but every time about halfway threw the movie it begins to skip and eventually the dvd player cannot recognize it. I worked for a very long time on this problem and finally got it fixed but now since I've reformatted and reinstalled windows its back. The thing I thought fixed it doesn't now but I tried so many things last time I was trying to fix it that I don't really remember now. If anyone can help me I would :D greatly :D appreciate it!Things I have tried with the time I have...Putting DVD drive in DMA mode instead or PIOI'm about positive its not copy protectionInstalling ForceASPI for the ASPI layerPutting the disk in different DVD playersThere are no scratches/fingerprints on the DVDsI've tryed different movies and the discs (DVD-R) have worked beforeI usually use dvdshrink to rip/compress/burn the movies. I also have Roxio Easy Media Creator 8, OEM version of Nero and CyberLink PowerDVD.The wierd thing is the DVDs will play fine in the computers DVD player?? How? Why?Oh yeah my dvd burner is a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B
dadyassa
Are you trying to burn on the fly, its risky as the reading speed has to be at least double the writing speed, or are you putting it onto the hard drive first ?
rong
If he uses dvd shrink it puts it on the hard drive.
dadyassa
If he uses dvd shrink it puts it on the hard drive.Yeah but then he says "hes tried the disk in diffrent players" so he may be trying it on the fly also.Could also be buffer overun. What does it say on the log ?
-pops-
Is your Nero OK?DVDShrink doesn't have its own burning software - it uses the Nero burner.
cozofdeath
Sorry I've been logged on but away for awhile. Thanks for the replies! No I'm not burning on the fly, I wish I could. I rip to the hard drive in iso or dvd format. -pops- I think you have a point with the hole nero thing. That was one of the things I removed to get it to burn ok. I'm going to remove nero and get a different burning program and I'll let you guys know how I made out.

cozofdeath
Thanks dadyassa and -pops-! I have just found the problem after many trials, errors and dvds. It seems to be my dvd players causing the problem. I have had problems with my one before because its older but usually my ps2 works fine. So I tried them out on a portable dvd player and they all worked flawlessly. I guess its just time to upgrade. I would keep and upgrade Nero to the latest of your version and take Roxio off ;)I just might take your advise. Whichever one has what I need and is simple and to the point, I'm still not sure yet. :D
-pops-
I don't think DVDShrink "sees" other burners so I'm pretty sure you must have Nero installed for DVDShrink to work properly.
cozofdeath
You correct on it not seeing other burners. Once the movie gets ripped on my hd I just drag the file onto roxio and away they go. Its nice because it doesn't have all kinds of crap that I don't need and it autorecogizes what file/folders I drag onto it. I had nero 7 ultra edition before I formatted everything and it came with to much stuff for me. It was ok at first but I never used any of it and it was getting in my way a lot. But it is a great burner with many features.

As long as it supports burning ISO files you can do it manually.
