-pops- Posted July 12, 2006 Report Share Posted July 12, 2006 This is well known amongst the people that matter in the NHS - the medical staff and auxiliaries who do the real work. This is the reason my son left the NHS and set up in private practice. As a consultant and Head of Department, he was sick and tired of being treated like a junior school kid by managers who most likely didn't have two GCSE's between them but did have the verbal abilities to convince the (equally ignorant) so-called "trusts" that they would do a good job in making for an efficient service. They have failed miserably as is now becoming well known but the worst thing is that the NHS is losing important staff in droves either by closures, redundancy and voluntary resignations from qualified personnel who can take it no longer. andsome Posted July 12, 2006 Report Share Posted July 12, 2006 We also now have the ludicrous situation where the government have been forcing closure of hospitals, wards , and beds etc, and now they are saying that they want to encourage more usage of community hospitals. Why the hell can't they make their silly minds up. It is already too late for our local community hospital, it is shortly to close down, and the land has already been sold for housing. There is too much tie up with "Private Medicine", much of US based. Time and again I see reports of fixed contracts to perform say 1000 procedures and only 50 or so are done. So we pay for 950 procedures twice, because the 950 that are done are carried out within the NHS, and private medicine gets paid for "not" doing 950.Leadership and management???
